A new sex toy shopping study conducted by Bespoke Surgical based on Google shopping data uncovers the shopping habits of Americans and what they like to take to bed state by state.

This fun new study compared the most-purchased sex toys in America between January 1st, 2017 to February 1st, 2018. So now we no longer have to endlessly wonder what others are keeping hidden in their top draws. And maybe you’ll be inspired by the results. 😉

Perhaps unsurprisingly dildos took the number 1 spot with 15 states opting for these versatile playthings as their toy of choice, vibrators followed closely behind for 2nd position with eleven states.

Bondage Toys Starting to Mainstream

But I was jumping around in my seat when I discovered there are no less than 9 states that prefer bondage gear including ball gags, restraints and floggers as their most popular sex toys, bringing it in at joint 3rd place alongside butt plugs.

For the BDSM community, 3rd place really starts to signal mainstreaming, and Bespoke surgery seems to support the idea that cult phenomenon Fifty Shades of Grey is behind the movement. No news there, we’ve seen first hand the impact.

It feels like a small achievement today that for us fellow kinksters, we are slowly but surely ditching the shame.

Bespoke Surgical, a private proctological surgery based in New York City and Los Angeles, were also delighted with the results claiming:

“More traditionally taboo sex toys, such as bondage gear and butt plugs, were the top choice in many states.”

They also noted that strap-ons had ranked in 4th place with 4 states, claiming a rise in heterosexual men, discovering that some backdoor action can be quite pleasurable. It seems that Americans are really enjoying exploring what’s out there and available on the market.
