Hot Octopuss is a brand I was already familiar with because of the Hot Octopuss Pulse. This is a sex toy for men which looks sort of like a little shield which you slide over the glans and then starts oscillating. Oscillating is more like shaking instead of vibrating, super intense. Obviously, I also placed my finger on the Pulse, and when my finger started shaking, I thought: I want to feel this on my clitoris!

Who was First?

For years, there has been a toy named the Eroscillator but I’ve never tried it. The Hot Octopuss claims that Queen Bee is the first sex toy for women with this oscillation technique, but the Eroscillator was obviously there a lot sooner. I also think that the Zumio oscillates, but I am not 100% sure because Zumio does not use this term for it. However, since the tip of the Zumio actually shakes, it looks the same to me. Even though there are more oscillating toys, does not mean that the Queen Bee is less fascinating, because you won’t encounter these a lot.

When I heard that the Hot Octopuss would make a toy for women, I got excited immediately. After months of impatient waiting for its release, I could almost kiss Stephanie from Willie.nl when she sent me one on the day of release in exchange for my honest review. When I got home that day, there was a package from Willie.nl. There it was, my Queen Bee. The fact that I looked like a drowned poodle after walking through the pouring rain did not matter anymore. The Queen Bee has arrived!

The box is so pretty and shiny! On the front, you can see an image of the Queen Bee herself. Robust, tough and very promising. If you then read the text on the backside, about how this revolutionary is, with its multi-award-winning technique, you want to try it immediately. This toy needed to be held against my clit. Now!

The Material

The Hot Octopuss Queen Bee is made of ABS and TPE. ABS is basically a hard plastic, which is a fine material for a sex toy. The silver coloured edge which goes all around the toy, is made of ABS, and the entire toy might be made from it as well, but the entire outer layer is made of TPE. Because if this, the toy feels a bit softer and a bit rubberier to the touch. TPE is slightly porous, but not toxic. It’s completely safe to use the toy, however, be sure to clean the toy very well after you use it. Because this is a toy made for external use, I don’t mind this so much. However, it can still contain bodily fluids and lubricants, which can really get absorbed by the toy and you are never sure if a good scrubbing down will really do the trick.

You charge the Queen Bee with a magnetic charger. Hot Octopuss describes this themselves as “cutting edge” and “state of the art”, however, in my opinion, a magnetic charger is pretty common these days. The magnetic charger is durable enough, it keeps itself in place and on the charger, you can see a little indicator which tells you if it’s still charging or if the Queen Bee has been fully charged. I’m happy that this is a little subtle light instead of a light which completely lights up the surrounding area whilst flashing. The Queen Bee is also waterproof.

Obviously, I first started reading the user manual. Everything was pretty clear. It was also mentioned that the backside of the toy could be used as a subtle way to warm things up a bit, it gives a soft massage effect. I never thought of this, so I decided to test that first. I was already pretty warmed up though, that’s how excited I was to try the Queen Bee.

Queen Bee’s Both Sides

Quickly, I discovered that the gentle massage was not for me. It felt like a bad vibrator, very light vibrations. If you want a normal vibrator, then there are other toys which do the job a lot better. Ah well, this is not why I wanted to use the Queen Bee. The oscillation of the so-called PulsePlate, that’s what I wanted to feel. I put some lubricant on the PulsePlate and quickly checked where I could find the buttons, because you can’t see these as soon as you use the PulsePlate on your clit, and I was good to go.

The Hot Octopuss Queen Bee has 5 different settings. The first setting is just Steady and the other 5 settings are various patterns. You can intensify each setting separately. I pressed the PulsePlate against my pussy and turned it on. It’s a good thing you can find the buttons by touch and recognize them very easily when you’re unable to see them. The Queen Bee started shaking excitedly. I like it hard, so I immediately started pressing the plus button to turn it up a bit. This was some real oscillating. My labia got heavily stimulated by its shaking vibrations.

Too Big of a Head

I tried some other settings and all of these were actually pretty good. Sweet patterns which really add something to the experience. However, it did not turn me on completely. The Queen Bee was especially placed against my labia and I actually wanted some stimulation against or just next to my clitoris. I tried to manoeuvre the Queen Bee to a better place, but this proved to be pretty difficult. The head of the toy is really wide. I think that all technical things inside maybe need a lot of space or maybe someone did not really think about its design.

With a lot of effort, especially with the lubricant I used which makes gliding a lot easier, I finally got the Queen Bee in kind of the right position. Yeah, then the PulsePlate feels really good on your clitoris. Steady or in patterns, it’s all good. Seriously though, to get that thing on the right place and to keep it there, it’s just not comfortable. It is really too large and too wide.

I really had to put in some effort, however, I just wanted a relaxed masturbation session. I wanted to enjoy without making an effort. Something else that really annoyed me was the sound. The sound.. Oh man, the sound… I really am not the type of person who thinks that a sex toy needs to be almost completely silent. Normally I do not get annoyed by sounds from a sex toy. But this… This goes too far even for me. The sound is really loud. Really, really loud. Especially when you use one of the pattern settings, when it turns off and on, then it gets really annoying. A discreet masturbation session with the Queen Bee is just not going to happen. If you have thin walls, the entire house and your neighbours will know you’re going at it again. Even though they don’t know what you’re doing specifically because you just don’t expect a sex toy producing that much sound.

I was so looking forward to the Hot Octopuss Queen Bee. I was expecting so much. Only to be presented with this. I was very disappointed in the Queen Bee. Yeah, the PulsePlate is really good when it oscillates against your clit (REALLY good!), however, to get it there the way you want is just too difficult, with my pussy at least. And the sound is just way to loud to not be annoyed by it.

Such a shame really. A toy with some much potential. It just does not work for me. The Queen Bee is just not a queen bee for me, it’s a clumsy, large and loud sex toy. I’m happy I still have my Zumio.
