Tantus is a brand known for using its premium silicone. They create very beautiful dildos in all shapes and sizes and also some more kinky stuff such as this beginner ball gag. Tantus sent me this beautiful pink gag in exchange for an honest review. It’s also available in black or red, but I really love the pink.
A gag is placed inside your mouth when you are wearing a gag, leaving you unable to speak. Some gags also allow you to produce less noise, but most of the time you’re inaudible. This can be very exciting, for example during a bondage session or other kinky games. When you’re wearing a gag, it can give you the feeling that you feel more submissive in regards to your partner. You cannot give any signals, you might even be tied up which leaves you unable to do anything except surrendering to whatever is happening to you.
Obviously, it is important to talk about what you think is okay and what is not okay before you start and to agree on a “safe word” to indicate you want to stop because you are not enjoying the experience. For example, you can hold a little ball in your hand when you’re standing which you can drop as some kind of “safe word”. When you are lying down, you could hold some sort of squeaky toy which you can pinch, or let someone know that tapping your hand three times is the signal.
I’ve used gags a lot. I think a gag is very exciting and it gives me some sort of peace when I’m not able to speak. It makes it easier to surrender to someone and to whatever is happening.
Most gags make you drool. When you have something in your mouth, it will be a lot harder to swallow and eventually you start to drool. Love it or hate it, but it happens. I love it. “Drool is cool” is a well-known kinky saying.
I was really curious about this Beginner Ball Gag from Tantus, because most gags are not that comfortable a lot of the time. You always get a cramp in your jaws because of your mouth being open for a longer period of time. But this kind of gag was completely new to me. A normal ball gag is just a ball where one side of it is placed inside your mouth and the other side is sticking out. Your mouth is opened up pretty wide, depending of the size of the ball.
This beginner ball gag is more shaped like a big teat. The ball part is completely placed inside your mouth and then you have the smaller piece which leaves your mouth open for a very little bit. This is a lot more comfortable, especially when you’re using it for a longer amount of time.
The gag comes in a cheerful plastic packaging with coloured dots, which is a typical Tantus feature. The straps come separately. The gag has two little slits on the side which you can use to pull the straps through. This makes it very easy to clean the gag; you can even place it in the dishwasher if you want too.
I had some difficulty when trying to pull the straps through the slits. The press studs were difficult to get through the holes and I’m a bit clumsy, so I did it wrong twice. The inside of the straps were pointed outwards because of it. Yup, I got those kinds of skills. The third time, I finally got it right, but I was a little bit concerned that if I continued to do this any more, there could be a possibly of ripping the silicone.
The straps are made out of leather and you can tighten them on the back of your head with Velcro strips. It’s easy and fast, but your hair can get stuck in it if you have long hair. However, especially for a beginner, it is nice that you can remove the gag super-fast (even the idea of it) if necessary. The inside of the leather is very soft, but also produces some type of leather fluff which can “stick” to the gag.
When it was time for the kinky stuff, I had my beginner ball gag ready. I was super curious and expected to finally have a comfortable gag in my possession. But unfortunately, this was not the case. I have an easily triggered gag reflex and this happened to me with this gag as well. Because a bigger piece is placed inside your mouth (compared to a traditional ball gag), it was more difficult for me. It was relaxing for my jaws and took a long time before they started to feel uncomfortable. But I had to keep breathing through my nose and needed to be aware of the fact that I was doing so in order for me not to gag.
However, I did think it was a nice gag to use, especially because I needed to stay aware of my breathing and because I needed to keep calm. It provided a bit more of a challenge really. But this is not a real priority for beginners. I also let others try the gag and they did not have any gagging issues. So, if you know that you’re sensitive to gagging, perhaps this is not the best beginners gag, but if this is not an issue for you then this item would be a very nice and comfortable gag to start with.
Design wise, I don’t think this is the sexiest looking gag. You’re basically looking at a flat surface. A normal ball gag just looks better in my opinion. However, comfort is also important. If it had not made me gag, this one would have my preference I think. It is very nice not to have any sort of cramping in your jaws.
For me, this gag was very different from what I was expecting. I expected a lot of comfort, but because of the gagging, this was not the case. However, this is kind of a personal thing and most other people would not normally have this issue.
