Most of my adult life, I’ve been practicing BDSM and at some point, I saved up the courage to go to a BDSM party for the first time in my life. I was pretty much expecting all sorts of strange people. I only knew BDSM from Jambers (Dutch/Belgian TV show). In that show, you never just saw some normal “girl next door” practicing BDSM (back then it was called SM).
No, it was more like some sort of freak show. When I found out that I also had BDSM feelings, I was in touch with other BDSM people, but actually only met three of them. Those three were normal people. Fun people even. But how would those other people be. Maybe the three of us were the exception to the rule.
BDSM Parties
My first BDSM party was a great experience. It was a party for young people and everybody was super friendly and bubbly. And (almost..;) ) all of them were very normal. Just the kind of people who I would meet at the supermarket or at school. Such a relief! It also immediately got rid of the feeling that I was some sort of outcast.
Since that first party, somewhere in 2001, I’ve been visiting many other BDSM parties. Normally, it’s such a great place to be and you see a lot of things. You can see how other people play and that is sometimes very inspiring. Often, I see things from which I think: “hmmm, I would like to try that as well.”
Chain-inspiration
I have been watching a couple a few times who had a whip. The tails of the whip were made from chains. It looks super intense, but I find it intriguing. Since I’ve been watching them play with this, I’ve been wanting to try it out. But their whip, with big fat links, looked a bit too heavy for me. So when I was browsing the EasyToys webshop and found this MasterSeries whip with some smaller links, I wanted to try it out immediately. Miriam from Easytoys was kind enough to send me one in exchange for a review.
Floggers
The whip with chains is packed in a normal plastic bag. Fine to me, I don’t need a box for my spanking gear. Even the bag was not necessary for me, but I can imagine that it might be a lot more practical for their storage instead of having a lot of loose chains around which all might get entangled. The whip itself looked a bit weird. I’ve seen quite a few whips in my time. Whips with tails you call floggers. Most of the time, the tails are made out of leather, but rubber, fake leather or even those scooby doo ropes (looks great with all those colors). You can use a lot of materials to make a flogger. So why not use a chain… But it immediately looks different from what I’m used to. The pieces of chain are only placed at the outer part of the handle. With leather floggers you often can’t see the inside of the handle because of the placement of the tails. So, this actually looks a little… how would I call it…sad… A little empty. But it is a chain though, so I can imagine that this amount of chains is actually enough.
The looks
The handle is made from leather. It looks alright, simply weaved over the handle with knots at the end. And a loop made out of leather on the top so you can easily hang it up somewhere. With most whips it is better to hang them when you are not using them because of the material. It will prevent creases for example, but for this whip it does not really matter. It does look cool though when you have a collection of whips hanging next to each other.
The chain they’ve used looks very different from a normal chain. It almost looks like some sort of chain mail; multiple rings are connected to each other and they form the chain. It looks a lot nicer and sweeter than the kind of chain you will find in any DIY store.
The test
The looks of this whip with chains did not really impress me from the start, but I was a bit afraid of how it would feel. “Not too hard!” I said with a bit of a nervous voice when it was time to test it for real. I’m happy that he listened and he was gentle. Very gentle to start with, which is good when you have a new whip because you never know how it will feel.
And the gentle touch like this actually felt really good. The tails were nice and cold and obviously felt very different from all the other whips I knew.
Slowly, he started to hit me a little harder and I was more relaxed. I really liked it. The tails hit my butt as some sort of hand fan and gave it a dull and deep feeling. It was not as awfully hard and painful as I was expecting. It even gave the impression of a massage a little bit.
Careful
We’ve only carefully played with this BDSM toy, because I do think that the material is quite scary to actually use for some harder spanking. But if you do it in a controlled manner, it’s really nice to use. And for those who do have the courage, you can always go a little harder. As long as you’re careful about which body parts you hit, it’s fine. Body parts with a bit of extra padding are suitable for it. In my case, you’ve got some more options, but with most people, the butt is always a good option. Also, the upper legs, calves and upper arms are suitable for it.
Conclusion
I don’t really like the looks of this whip, but I do like it a lot. A whip with tails made out of chains, that looks pretty badass and I like that. It does give you a bit of a mindfuck though, because being spanked with chains…woah! When we actually used it, it was not bad at all, as long as you’re careful and take it easy. So, even for people who are not that much in do BDSM, it’s still very suitable to use.
