What is Consent

Consent plays a key role in all BDSM and kink relationships and play. It’s amazing how often I am still asked ‘What is Consent?” Kinksters either agree to play in a Safe, Sane and Consensual (SSC) way or follow the philosophy of Risk Aware Consensual Kink (RACK). Both flavors rely that whatever play happens is based on the explicit consent of all participants. ‘Explicit’ is a crucial term here, because ‘assumed’ consent just means someone didn’t bother asking – it just simply doesn’t count.

This amazing video is a funny metaphor about consent. If you aren’t sure what consent is, take three minutes and watch. 🙂
